Steve Thornborrow: Chef de Cuisine
Steve started out in the restaurant business twenty-seven years ago at the age of sixteen, as a dishwasher. Three months later, he was carving prime rib and learning “the kitchen. “ He has never looked back…..Steve was the owner/ operator of a sports bar for sixteen months. It was during this time that he learned every aspect of the business and fully understood the challenges involved in owning a restaurant.
In addition to this experience, Steve spent fifteen years in the golf course industry where he cooked and prepared meals for over two hundred weddings. Steve also spent a very memorable thirteen months cooking for our Canadian and International troops in Afghanistan where he learned the skill involved in large quantity cooking. He was responsible for preparing 1,200 steaks on a BBQ every Saturday. Not surprisingly, one of his passions now is grilling steaks!
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
Steve is very customer focused and he will try his best to accommodate all culinary needs and wants. Steve graduated Chef’s school apprenticeship program at Niagara College and he has always wanted to lead a great team of chefs and cooks. Steve first joined the Stone House team as Executive Chef in the summer of 2017 and he has recently joined the Lake House team as our Chef de Cuisine.
