This Privacy Statement provides information on the practices of 1882916 Ontario Inc., operating as Lake House Restaurant (“we”, “our”, “us”) regarding the Personal Information collected, used, processed, and disclosed:

  • Through our Website lakehouserestaurant.com (the “Website”), including through forms found on our Website;
  • When you visit the restaurant; and
  • When you interact with us or our representatives in person, by email or by phone.

COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

In this Privacy Statement, Personal Information means any information that can be used to identify you, either alone or in combination with other information. (“Personal Information”).

When you interact with us through our Website or contact us by phone or by email, we may collect the following Personal Information from you:

  • When contacting us directly (by phone, email or through social media) with inquiries or to make a reservation: Contact information (such as your name, phone number and/or email address and/or social media handle) and the contents of your message, details regarding your reservations (time and date, number of guests, occasion (if applicable), special requests you choose to provide to us (e.g. accommodation needs, support animals, dietary restrictions, allergies), in order to contact you regarding your inquiries or reservations, and in order to prepare your reservation appropriately;
  • When attending at our restaurant in person: Special requests you choose to provide to us (e.g. accommodation needs, support animals, dietary restrictions, allergies) in order to serve you appropriately, and payment information, such as your method of payment, credit card number, cheque information and other billing information, when you make a purchase, in order to process your payment.

Information collected from OpenTable

  • When making a reservation using OpenTable: OpenTable will send us contact information (such as your full name, phone number, email address), details regarding your reservation (time and date, number of guests, occasion (optional), special requests (optional), accommodation needs, support animals, dietary restrictions, allergies), in order to make your reservation. With your prior express consent, OpenTable may also send us your email preferences, if you choose to sign-up to receive for dining offers and news from us.

We may also de-identify and aggregate information we receive regarding our operations and reservations in order to generate statistics about our operations (e.g. the number of reservations we booked in a time period). 

We may transfer Personal Information to third-parties who act on our behalf (i.e. service providers), for further processing in accordance with the purpose(s) for which the Personal Information was originally collected.

In the course of our activities and for the same purposes as those listed in this Privacy Statement, your Personal Information can be accessed by, or transferred to the following categories of recipients on a need-to-know basis to achieve such purposes:

  • our personnel, including staff and contractors;
  • our suppliers and services providers providing us with services, such as payment processing and OpenTable (for online reservations);
  • our systems providers that provide us with IT solutions, including web service providers, web hosting, cloud service providers, database providers; and
  • our professional advisors, including accountants and lawyers, as part of requesting advice or as part of a business transaction involving part of our business or its assets.

Your Personal Information will remain protected in accordance with this Privacy Statement. Prior to any transfer of Personal Information, we ensure to have agreements in place with third-party service providers to ensure they only use Personal Information as necessary and for the agreed upon purpose, to protect the Personal Information with security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, and not to disclose it except as may be permitted by us, as required by law, or as stated in this Privacy Statement.

Information Collected Automatically Through Our Website

  • Cookies & Other Technologies:  In general, you can visit our Website without telling us who you are or submitting any Personal Information. However, our Website may use a technology called “cookies.” A cookie is a tiny element of data that our Website can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your hard drive so we can recognize you when you return. We may collect the IP (Internet protocol) addresses of all visitors to our Websites and other related information such as page requests, browser type, operating system, and average time spent on our Website. We use this information to help us understand activity on our Websites and to monitor and improve our services and our Websites.

We have Personal Information retention processes designed to retain Personal Information of our customers for no longer than necessary for the purposes stated above or to otherwise meet legal requirements. We will destroy or anonymize information that is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected.

You may choose to exercise any of the following rights related to your Personal Information. Some of these rights will be subject to specific requirements or limitations under applicable law:
